Haunted Planet Studios
Following two years research and development at NDRC, the Viking Ghost Hunt technology has evolved into a new spin out – Haunted Planet Studios (HPS). HPS is currently creating a range of location aware mobile games with augmented reality for major visitor attractions.
The ‘Ghost Hunt’ series is a mixture of next generation mobile technologies combined with historical content tailored to the site. The result is an ultra realistic experience blending the virtual and real worlds. Using a smart phone provided by the Ghost Hunt Team, you are invited to search for the ghost/s relevant to the site’s history as you navigate your way around the it’s grounds.
Utilising GPS technology, augmented reality, and immersive audio along with the backdrop of the historic site, the game proceeds with a variety of clues and of course, ghosts. The ghostly apparitions are overlaid on the camera view and eery sounds and music are combined with the natural sounds of the location. You will find yourself second guessing what’s real and what isn’t! The end result is a fun and exciting game combined with the history of the site in which it is operating.
The first of the ‘Ghost Hunt’ series is ‘Falkland Ghost Hunt’. Set in the National Trust for Scotland site, Falkland Palace, the game is built around the amazing history of the palace – in particular Mary Queen of Scots.
The ‘Ghost Hunt’ series offers both an excellent enhancement and revenue generator for major visitor attractions. Suitable for older children, teenagers and adults the games provide real excitement while bringing the history and heritage of locations to life.
