Leading edge, Irish mobile technology will be showcased at tomorrow’s “Mobile World Congress” in Barcelona.  The highly significant international event will feature NDRC (National Digital Research Centre) projects “Local Social” and “HeartPhone” with NDRC partner’s Rococo Software Ltd. Local Social aims to create a "social proximity framework" enabling social networks and mobile operators to offer more powerful proximity features to their users, while HeartPhone is a new innovative ”ehealth” solution that measures, monitors and manages the weight of Congestive Heart Failure patients in their own homes.  NDRC operates as an independent centre of excellence dedicated to accelerating digital research from idea to income.

Commenting on the showcasing of LocalSocial and HeartPhone at the congress, NDRC CEO Ben Hurley said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit two of NDRC’s innovative projects at Mobile World Congress this year. NDRC is about accelerating digital ideas to commercial viability and income, we are achieving this through deep collaborations between the worlds of business and academia. As an indicator of NDRC’s progress, it is great to see that some of our projects are ready for global exposure at commercially-focused events like this”.
