Innovation Dublin hosting 4 NDRC-backed tech innovations for use by participants & event organisers as part of ‘Innovation Dublin 2011’

19th October 11: Innovation Dublin has today launched a collaboration with NDRC (National Digital Research Centre) to showcase 4 new and innovative web-based social technologies for use by participants and event owners before, during and after Innovation Dublin.  All are currently accessible for use on the Tech Innovations portal www.techinnovations.ie/

The technologies available have all been developed in conjunction with NDRC and include “MySmark”, a semantic feedback tool that gives participants the chance to provide their opinion on the events they attend at the click of a button through an emotional tagging tool; “Hit the Road” to plan routes across public transport systems to and from events; “LocalSocial” – software that will allow the user to meet with other event participants through their smartphones and “Picturk” will give contributors a chance to upload amateur photographs and to take part in the photographic competition “Innovation by Design”.

Picturk will host a photography crowd-sourcing competition, themed “Innovation by Design” throughout Innovation Dublin. By catching a moment on camera that reflects the originality and creativity taking place at events during Innovation Dublin and uploading it to the Tech Innovation portal anyone can be in with a chance to win the first prize of €300.

The INNOVATION DUBLIN 2011 Festival is currently underway and runs until the 18th November.  The aim of the festival, which is now in its third year, is to raise public awareness of the innovation and creativity in Dublin to inspire and stimulate innovation and creativity and to encourage networking opportunities.   The majority of events are free and open to the public, though advance booking is required in some cases. The full programme of events is available on www.innovationdublin.ie.
